There are 3 types of offers for discount code that you can provide in your marketing campaign to attract more registrants.
Percentage Off
On Entire Order
When you create a percentage off discount applying on entire order and discount code is applied, all ticket types' prices will be discounted by certain percentage off.
For example, a discount code called "30%OFFSUMMERSALES2018" is created.
Then, I apply the discount code on the registration form and all ticket prices are discounted by the rate.
On Specific Ticket Types
When you create a percentage off discount applying on specific ticket types and discount code is applied, specified ticket types' prices will be discounted by certain percentage off.
For example, a discount code called "100%OFFVIP" is created.
Then, I apply the discount code on the registration form and specific ticket prices are discounted by the rate.
Fixed Amount Off
On Entire Order
When you create a fixed amount off discount applying on entire order and the discount code is applied, the whole order will be deducted by a fixed amount.
For example, a discount code called "$50OFF" is created.
Then, I apply the discount code on the registration form and the whole order is reduced by $50.
On Specific Ticket Types
You can apply fixed amount off discount on specific ticket types which can be more than one. When it is applied, particular ticket types on all forms if displaying will be deducted by a fixed amount.
For example, a discount code called "$10off" is created applying on Ticket Type "Conference Pass".
When the discount code is applied, Conference Pass price is reduced by $10.
Buy X Get Y Free
Buy x get y free is another common promo offer to encourage bulk purchase. You can simply set it by selecting the offer type as "Buy X Get Y Free".
Note: You need to set Ticket Ownership to be Group Purchase under registration form setting such that registrants can enjoy this offer.
Select ticket type to be applied. For Buy X Get Y Free offer, the ticket to buy and ticket to get must be in the same ticket type.
For example, I want to provide buy 2 get 1 free for Conference Pass. I will select ticket type Conference Pass.
You can then set the quantity to buy which will be the number of tickets registrants need to pay for.
For example, to set buy 2 get 1 free, the "QTY TO BUY" has to be 2.
For the free ticket ticket quantity, you can set under "QTY TO GET".
For example, to set buy 2 get 1 free, the "QTY TO GET" has to be 1.
Apply the discount code on the registration form.
Select ticket quantity greater than quantity to buy to enjoy the discount. For buy 2 get 1 free, the registration form will ask for 3 attendees' information to be filled in but the total order amount is 2 ticket fees only.
Common scenarios when applying Buy X Get Y Free
Here we'll take a discount code of buy 4 get 2 free as an example. There are 3 scenarios:
- Purchase qty = Qty to buy
- If registrant select 4 tickets, no offer is given. Registrant can register for 4 people only while paying for 4 ticket fees.
- Qty to buy < Purchases qty < Sum of Qty to buy and Qty to get
- If registrant selects 5 tickets, 1 ticket is free. Registrant can register for 5 people while paying for 4 ticket fees.
- If registrant selects 6 tickets, 2 tickets are free. Registrant can register for 6 people while paying for 4 ticket fees.
- Sum of Qty to buy and Qty to get < Purchase Qty
- If registrant selects 7 tickets, 2 tickets are given. Registrant can register for 7 people while paying for 5 ticket fees.
- If registrants selects 12 tickets, still 2 tickets are given. Registrant can register for 12 people while paying for 10 ticket fees.
Xtra Tips: Once the discount code is created and used, it will no longer be editable.
